For interior use, we recommend that the sticks be cleaned. This will remove the loose bark, moss, and lichen. It does not remove the bark, just polishes them up.

What is the Process?

Mountain Laurel Handrails come in preassembled sections that are easy to install. You provide your actual post-to-post measurements. A typical section is a top and bottom cedar 2×4 with the mountain laurel branches woven in between. 2×4 works well for projects where posts are 6×6 and larger. For 4×4 posts, 1×4 lumber is recommended.

Description

Mountain Laurel Handrail sections are a great choice for indoors! They are custom built to your measurements. Sections are shipped nationwide and delivered to your location ready-to-install. This easy railing system install means that on-site labor costs are reduced and overall build cycle times are decreased.

You provide actual post to post measurements. A typical section is a top and bottom cedar 2×4 with the mountain laurel branches woven in between. Sections are built an inch or so longer than actual and you cut to fit when they arrive on site. You also provide the additional 2×4 top and bottom to make a “sandwich” of the ends of the sticks as well as the 2x top cap.

The typical lumber is cedar 2×4 and this works well for 6×6 and larger posts. You install the sections and then install an additional 2×4 to make a sandwich of the ends of the sticks. When the installation is complete, the cross section width is about 4.5″. For 4×4 posts, we use 1×4 lumber, you install, then put 1x4s for the sandwich boards and the finished width is about 3″.
